Castle Hills Primary Academy

Miss Atkinson (Y1/2)

Welcome back 1/2A to a fun-filled term that will certainly keep us busy. We will be delving into the lives of the courageous coal miners and exploring the impact mines had in our local area. We will become mini-mining explorers and step into the roles to truly understand what life was like.

Pack your bags, we are off to Madagascar, and we might even meet Marvin and the gang, as we explore the coasts, oceans and compare the human and physical features of Madagascar to our coastlines in the UK.

‘I like to move it, move it!’

In our English we will be on a ‘Clean Up’ mission to help rid our oceans of pollution. We will learn about how humans are having an impact on the environment and write to persuade others to care for our planet. We will also immerse ourselves in an aboriginal forest, where we will look at what once was.

‘A father takes his son to a place you can only reach by boat and the boy immerses himself in this secluded ancient and magical place where the present, past and future overlap. Collages allow us to spot people and animals from a long time ago in the forest.’

In maths, we will continue to be mathmagicians and explore in-depth reasoning and problem-solving to bring together all the skills we have learnt.
