Mrs Price, Miss Turnell (F2/Y1)

We welcome Miss Turnell to F2/Y1 to cover Mrs Price's maternity leave until July 2027.

Welcome Back!

We hope you had a wonderful summer break. We cannot wait to hear all about the exciting adventures and special memories you made over the past six weeks!

F2

This half-term, we will be learning about ourselves, the important people in our lives, and what makes each of us unique and special. We will explore all of this through our topic, 'Ourselves'.

As part of our learning, we will enjoy sharing and discussing some wonderful stories, including You Choose, Super Duper You, and A Superpower Like Mine.

We are so excited to get to know you and discover what makes you amazing. Although we are all different, together we make a fantastic team in F2Y1T. We can't wait to welcome you into our F2Y1T family and begin our learning journey together!

Y1

We're looking forward to an exciting half-term packed with fantastic learning opportunities, and we can't wait to get started. We hope you are just as excited as we are!

In History, we will be exploring the fascinating story of The Great Fire of London. This is always a popular topic, and we will bring history to life through role play, arts and crafts, and hands-on activities that help us understand what happened and why it remains such an important event.

In Geography, our topic is Our Local Area. We will be taking walks around the local community to identify and explore human and physical features while developing our map-reading and directional skills.

During Maths, we will continue building confidence with numbers to 10. We will practise addition and subtraction within 10 before finishing the half-term by investigating the properties of different 2D and 3D shapes.

Our first English text will be The Day the Crayons Quit, a fun and creative story that will inspire us to explore colours, emotions, and different perspectives. We will use the book to create our own labels, captions, and imaginative pieces of writing.

Later in the term, we will read Vlad and the Great Fire of London, which links perfectly with our History learning. Through this exciting story, we will develop our writing skills by creating instructions and detailed setting descriptions, using our knowledge and wonderful imaginations to bring our ideas to life.

In Design and Technology, we will be letting our creative juices flow as we dive into the exciting world of textiles. We will learn how to design, sew, and create our very own pouch, combining practical sewing skills with imaginative ideas. We will explore different fabrics, patterns, and techniques while developing confidence in using tools safely and effectively. As designers and makers, we will have the opportunity to personalise our work, solve problems, and bring our unique ideas to life. By the end of the project, we will have created a finished pouch that is both functional and a reflection of our creativity and hard work.

We are looking forward to a half term full of curiosity, creativity, and memorable learning experiences!
