Welcome back 5N! We hope that you have had a memorable Christmas break and feel refreshed for new challenges ahead.
Over the coming term, Year 5 will be focusing on lots of exciting things including, the Tudor dynasty, where they will look at the Monarchs from Henry VII all the way to Elizabeth 1 and how our country changed under their power. In geography, they will delve into land use of the UK and its importance and will discuss and debate differences between human and physical geography and use resources such as atlases and the internet to understand the country we live in.

Our class novel is ‘Me my dad and the end of the rainbow’, which is written by Benjamin Dean. The story details a boy who deals with important social issues while navigating through childhood. |

In maths, children will focus on fractions, decimals, percentages and perimeter. They will solve problems involved in everyday life, including money, weight and capacity. In science, children will focus on Earth and Space and understand aspects such as the Earth’s rotation and the wonders of the solar system.
It will be a very busy but equally enjoyable term for the children, and I am sure that they will rise to the challenges set before them.
Remember, to make sure you complete your homework on time, read at least five times every week, arrive in the correct PE kit and have an attendance of 96% or above to be in our ‘In It To Win It’!
