Castle Hills Primary Academy

Mr Clayton (Y3)

The spring term was an important term of development and consolidation for 3C. Now we are in the run-up to a brand-new year as they become full-fledged and experienced students in KS2. There are new challenges to overcome and exciting times with trips, visits and opportunities to really show what they’ve learned and how they’ve developed in Y3! I can’t wait to see them fully prepped and ready for a new school year at the end of term!

The new Summer Term will bring exciting new topics and skills along with the much-improved weather, and I’m certain the class is excited to tackle them!

Two fantastic books in ‘Running on the Roof of the World’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ will bring the chance for character description and narratives in writing, really giving us a chance to flex our creative muscles.

Geometry and Time in Maths are two of the most exciting and fun maths topics to teach and learn for real-life application.

This term we will be exploring a subject very close to the cultural identity of Doncaster: The Vikings! We’ll be learning about how to classify and categorise animals through taxonomy in science. We will be diving deep into Viking singing, learning even more about Islam and Christianity and how cities and towns differ from each other in our geographic focus on Sheffield and Whitby! Giving us new insights into how the world works in our local area!

We will also be discovering how interpersonal relationships work in the modern day in PSHE, the exciting world of wearable tech in DT and wonderful summer sports with Tennis and Athletics in PE. And that’s not even to mention classrooms in Spanish and further coding in Computing!

All this and residential trips, sports days and transition and year activities. It’s no wonder the end of the year is the most memorable at primary school!

Our P.E. day will be on a Monday. Learning Gymnastics and
Health and fitness. Please make sure to come to school in your PE kit. Where possible, we will be moving our PE lessons outside, so please make sure you wear your outdoor kit!

*Remember*

Remember to make sure your homework is completed weekly alongside 5 reads per week, arrive in the correct PE kit, 20 minutes TTRS and have an attendance of 96% or above to take part in our 'in it to win it'
