Welcome back to a new school year in 1/2A.

Hopefully, you’ve all had a lovely summer holiday with family and friends. We are so excited to hear everything about your experiences and adventures from the holidays!

 

Our first-class book for English is a powerful poetic narrative about a young girl whose ordinary, happy life is instantly shattered by sudden violence.

 

 Together we will explore the story of The Day War Came, discuss the characters and their feelings, non-chronological reports, and think of the message it shares. You will use your imagination and writing skills to create a diary entry from a character's point of view.

Travel back in time with Charlie and the Great Fire of London.

Charlie and his class go on a school trip to the Monument, where he and his friend Pierre open a door and travel back in time to the burning City of London in 1666.

We will learn about using and following instructions, a setting description, and produce our own narrative.

 

We will become brilliant mathematicians, developing an understanding of place value and building our confidence in addition and subtraction. Using practical skills using manipulatives and problem-solving challenges. Work with shapes, learning names, how many sides, vertices and faces.

Travel back in time and discover how The Great Fire of London started, how it spread so quickly, and how London changed as a result of this important event in history.

Our local area will be our focus in geography, exploring places around us, learning about maps and discovering what makes our community special.

PE day is: Monday – children arrive and stay in their kits. *remember to remove earrings,*

 Homework is set on Friday and is due on the following Thursday.

 

   Please remember to be part of our ‘In it to Win it’. You must read five times a week, complete your homework on time, arrive in the correct P. E kit weekly  and have an attendance of 96% or above.
